Drug and alcohol abuse can very quickly devastate the lives of the addict and those around and care for them.
Substance abuse can be a difficult problem to overcome and without treatment, can lead to catastrophic consequences. This is why the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center is committed to helping any of our residents as well as any members of our community overcome these addictions.
The JCOC will help locate the appropriate resources to help our residents as well as any community member who needs help ending their addiction to drugs and alcohol.
If any of our residents or community members wants to end their addiction to drugs or alcohol, the JCOC is prepared to help find whatever resources will help.
The Judeo-Christian Outreach Center believes that education is an important component of building a better life with a bright future. The JCOC can help our residents find the resources to make this goal a reality.
This is why we encourage our residents to be tested for taking the G.E.D. exam, identifying areas that need improvement and helping them achieve this goal.
We also help by providing direction to educational resources for community members as well as their children to help break the cycle of poverty, gangs and gang violence.
The JCOC Computer lab provides education about and access to computers and the Internet to help our residents not only communicate with friends and loved ones via the World Wide Web, but to help them become more marketable to prospective employers in the Internet age as well as finding job listings online.
Upon enrollment, each resident is assigned a case manager. Together, the resident and manager complete a skills and interest assessment to
develop an Independent Living Plan (ILP). The resident is referred to on- and off-site services that best facilitate his/her recovery.

Residents may also complete culinary classes in preparation for jobs in the food and hospitality industries. The JCOC works with an accomplished chef to provide food service and handling training to give residents a competitive edge.
Each resident receives a certificate of completion at the end of the course.
If the list of chores around your home is getting longer as the days grow shorter or, if those bags of mulch that weighed 30 pounds last year feel more like they're
twice that this season, help might be available at the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center.
Many of our residents are able-bodied, ready and willing to put in a fair days work for a fair days pay.
It also is worth mentioning that the JCOC usually has skilled craftsmen as residents who might be carpenters or landscapers that could provide you with the extra pair of hands you need to get the job done.
All JCOC residents have a valid I.D and have undergone a warrants check by the Virginia Beach Police as part of our admissions process.
If you have some odd jobs around your home, please give our shelter a call at (757) 491-2846 and let's see if we can find you the help you're looking for.
