Notice as of May 19, 2020: SAVE the DATE… JCOC is scheduled to meet with Virginia Beach City Council on Tuesday, June 2nd at 6 PM. We will share details as they are received. Please Show Your Support for our campus rebuild project by emailing the council members.
Remember, JCOC took a big step forward in being able to rebuild our campus on 1053 Virginia Beach Blvd. last December. The Virginia Beach Planning Commission unanimously approved our campus rebuild application. The June 2nd meeting is the next big step!
Background: JCOC facilitates the Emergency Shelter and Day Support programs at the City of Virginia Beach’s Housing Resource Center, successfully helping single homeless men and women every day. All of our Feeding Programs and administrative offices remain on the main campus. Every day, we address food insecurity, prevent homelessness, and help the area’s homeless through our Feeding Programs (Food Pantry, daily Community Dinner, and Family Food Boxes).
The campus rebuild includes replacing our four rundown buildings with one 3-story building. It will have a new dining hall, kitchen, food pantry, administrative offices, and most exciting of all… a total of 38 affordable single occupancy apartments on the second and third floors.
