Kitchen Manager (Part-time position)
Judeo-Christian Outreach Center (JCOC) operates a food pantry and dining hall for the hungry and homeless on its main campus. JCOC is currently seeking an experienced Kitchen Manger to assist with daily operations including food pantry operations and meal preparation for the community’s hungry. The selected candidate will also oversee and assist volunteer groups who come in and prepare meals for the community every day of the year. Essential duties include: managing day to day operations; managing inventory; overseeing storage and equipment inspections; ensuring compliance with Health Code regulations and standard for quality, cleanliness, and workplace safety; training and supervising volunteers who prep and serve food, wash dishes, and perform other janitorial duties; and have an understanding of LIFO, FIFO and HACCP and completing the related required documentation.
Qualified applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a commercial kitchen and/or catering operations for large groups and a High School Diploma. Applicant must have supervisorial experience; strong knowledge of public health and food safety policies and practices; working knowledge of MS Office and Internet; and have the physical stamina and ability to stand for at least 6 hours and lift a minimum of 35 pounds. Applicant should also have a strong ability to assess resources; implement a plan and evaluate results; have excellent decision making and organizational skills; be a self-starter with ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines; and have strong interpersonal skills with ability to establish effective working relationships across diverse populations.
Part-time position working 25-29 hours weekly. Schedule requires every other weekend and some holidays. Must have a valid driver’s license with good DMV record, background check and drug screening required. ServSafe food handler’s certification is a plus.
