Hunger Relief Coordinator (part-time)

This position is responsible for the oversight of daily operations to include Retail Rescue, Food Pantry and Community Dinner programs. The ideal candidate will create a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for guests to receive services with dignity and respect.


• Oversee Retail Rescue program which includes driving a refrigerated truck, picking up food from grocery
   stores and weighing, sorting and organizing food. 
• Train and supervise volunteers and community service workers to assist with all hunger relief programs.
Confirm meal plans for volunteer groups scheduled to prepare and serve meals for the community.
Execute back up plan for Community Dinner when volunteer groups are unable to fulfill their date.
Complete and submit required paperwork and reports.
Receive and manage inventory for all hunger relief programs.
Ensure compliance with Health Code regulations and standard for quality, cleanliness, and workplace safety.
Serve as liaison for local Foodbank. Complete and submit all reports required by the Foodbank.
Work with Community Engagement Manger to coordinate volunteer efforts for all hunger relief programs.

• Ability to drive a truck
• Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds
• Understanding of LIFO, FIFO and HACCP
• Strong knowledge of public health and food safety policies and practices
• Demonstrate maturity, good judgment and ability to respond quickly and calmly in crisis situations
• Strong communication skills, conflict resolution skills, and crisis intervention skills are required
• Ability to function well in a high-paced environment and work well under pressure
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Internet and related software
• Self-starter, team oriented and ability to meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations
• Posses the physical stamina and ability to stand for at least 3 hours

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen
• ServSafe Food Handler’s Certification is a plus
• Experience working with a diverse and vulnerable population is helpful
• A valid driver’s license with good DMV record is required

This position is part-time (20-25 hours per week). Schedule requires morning, afternoon and evening hours, every other Saturday and some holidays. Occasional travel between work locations is required. Hourly pay is $19-$21 dependent on experience. A background check and drug screening are required. The Hunger Relief Coordinator reports directly to the Community Engagement Manager.
